Apprentices and engineers at the Chakan plant work directly on EV components including lithium-ion battery packs, regenerative braking systems, motor controllers, and connected vehicle features. This hands-on EV manufacturing experience - at one of India's pioneering EV manufacturers - is invaluable for a long-term career in the automotive industry.
Selection Process and Application
For NATS and ITI apprentice roles, Bajaj Auto primarily recruits through the NATS portal (nats.education.gov.in) for diploma/degree apprentices and the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS) portal for ITI trade apprentices. The selection process involves: (1) Online application through the respective government portal, (2) Shortlisting based on academic marks and ITI/Diploma percentage, (3) Written Technical Test (trade knowledge and aptitude), (4) Practical Skills Assessment at plant, (5) Medical fitness test, and (6) Document Verification. For Management Trainee Engineering roles, Bajaj conducts campus recruitment drives at engineering colleges, with a Placement Test followed by Technical and HR interviews.
Bajaj Auto's manufacturing culture emphasizes "Lean Manufacturing" and the Toyota Production System (TPS) methodology. Apprentices are trained in 5S, Kaizen, Poka-Yoke, Jidoka, and Just-In-Time (JIT) principles from day one - skills that are universally valued in any manufacturing career.
