Selection Process

For Probationary Engineers: Shortlisting is done based on valid GATE scores in the relevant discipline. GATE-shortlisted candidates are then called for a Personal Interview at the nearest BEL unit. The interview covers electronics/engineering fundamentals deeply - particularly RF/Microwave concepts for ECE candidates, power electronics for EE candidates, and OS/networking/embedded systems for CS candidates. Interviewers also assess your knowledge of BEL's product portfolio and Indian defence electronics landscape, so doing thorough research before the interview is critical.

For Project Engineers: BEL conducts its own online written test (domain-specific + aptitude) followed by a technical interview. Shortlisting is based on experience profile alignment and performance in the written test.

Working at BEL: The Defence Electronics Advantage

BEL engineers work on classified, strategically important projects that rarely get public recognition but shape India's defence capability. Projects like the Multi-Function Radar for Tejas Mk2, the Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) radar, naval fire control systems, and the Software Defined Radio (SDR) for the Indian Army are examples of the cutting-edge technical challenges BEL engineers tackle daily. The work environment demands precision, security consciousness, and deep technical expertise. Engineers at BEL also interact with DRDO labs (LRDE, DARE, SAG, DEAL), ISRO, and international defence partners (Rafael, Thales, Israel Aerospace Industries, L3Harris) for joint technology development programs, providing world-class exposure. For electronics engineers who want to work on the most sophisticated, technically challenging, and nationally vital engineering problems in India - BEL is the ultimate destination. Prepare your GATE, hone your RF and embedded systems knowledge, and join India's premier defence electronics company!
