Manufacturing the Machines that Build India
Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) is a Maharatna PSU and India's largest power generation equipment manufacturer. Unlike NTPC (which generates power), BHEL manufactures the massive turbines, generators, and transformers used by NTPC and other power companies.
As an Engineer Trainee (ET), you will be working on the shop floor of massive manufacturing units in cities like Haridwar, Bhopal, Trichy, or Hyderabad. The work involves core design, heavy machining, fabrication, and quality testing of equipment that weighs hundreds of tonnes.
Selection Process (No GATE Required)
Unlike ONGC and NTPC, BHEL often conducts its own Computer Based Test (CBT) instead of relying on GATE scores. This gives a second chance to brilliant students who may have slipped up on the GATE exam day.
Stage 1 (CBT): A strict objective test focusing heavily on core engineering subjects, with a smaller section on aptitude and general knowledge.
Stage 2 (Interview): Candidates are shortlisted in a 1:5 ratio for the personal interview, which tests practical manufacturing knowledge and design fundamentals.
Salary: E-1 grade (,60,000 รขโฌโ ,1,80,000) with a gross starting salary of around ,85,000 per month, plus excellent township facilities.
