Posts & Eligibility

Engineer Trainee (ET): BE/BTech or B.Sc. Engineering in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Civil, Metallurgy, Chemical, Instrumentation, or Computer Science with minimum 55% aggregate marks. GATE score required for this role.

Supervisor Trainee (ST): Diploma holders in the above engineering disciplines with 55%+ marks. Selection through BHEL's own written test.

Apprentices: ITI pass in Fitter, Turner, Machinist, Electrician, Welder, Electronic Mechanic, and other trades. Selection based on ITI marks and a trade test.

Pay Scale & Benefits

Engineer Trainees are placed in E1 Grade (,40,000–,1,40,000). During the training period of 1 year, a consolidated training stipend of ,40,000/month is paid. After training and confirmation, the gross salary (with DA, HRA, Perks at 35% of basic) reaches approximately ,70,000–,80,000 per month. Selection Process for ET

BHEL engineer trainee selection is entirely based on GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) scores. No separate exam is conducted by BHEL for ET posts. Candidates must have appeared in the GATE exam in their respective discipline. The merit list is prepared based on normalized GATE scores, followed by a Personal Interview at BHEL headquarters or regional offices. For apprentices, selection is based on ITI marks + a written trade test + document verification.
