Available Trades for Apprenticeship

Fitter: Assembly line work - engine assembly, chassis fitting, quality inspection. The largest apprentice category.

Welder (Gas & Electric): Frame welding, exhaust system fabrication using both robotic and manual welding techniques.

Electrician: Wiring harness assembly, electrical testing of finished vehicles, battery management system testing (for EV Vida).

Electronics Mechanic: Assembly and testing of instrument clusters, ECU, ABS systems, and connected vehicle IoT components.

Machinist: CNC machine operation for engine components - cylinder head, crankcase, and crankshaft machining.

Turner: Lathe machine operations for precision turned parts.

Painter: Electrostatic spray painting of components, touch-up work, and quality inspection of paint finish.

Eligibility and Stipend

Qualification: Class 10 (Matriculation) pass AND an NCVT-certified ITI certificate in the relevant trade. SCVT certificate holders are also eligible. Minimum 60% marks in ITI is required for direct shortlisting; candidates with lower marks may still be considered subject to a written test performance.

Age Limit: 18 to 25 years at the time of application.

Stipend: ,11,000 for first year apprentices and ,13,000 for second year apprentices (if 2-year ITI trade). Hero MotoCorp provides transportation from designated pickup points near plants, free safety equipment (safety shoes, gloves, goggles, helmet), and subsidized canteen meals. Apprentices also receive overtime pay (at 1.5x rate) for any hours beyond 8-hour shifts.

Selection Process

Selection at Hero MotoCorp is rigorous and merit-based. Stage 1: Online Application review - ITI marks and 10th board marks are evaluated. Stage 2: Written Technical Test - covers trade-specific theoretical knowledge (e.g., for Fitter: fits and tolerances, types of threads, assembly procedures; for Electrician: Ohm's law, electrical circuits, motor principles). Stage 3: Practical Skills Test - a hands-on demonstration at the plant where candidates must perform a basic trade task (e.g., tighten bolts to specified torque for Fitter, identify wire gauges for Electrician). Stage 4: Medical Examination - basic fitness and color vision test. Stage 5: Document Verification. The entire process takes 2–4 weeks. Selected candidates begin their apprenticeship within 30 days of offer issuance.
