The Frontline of Public Banking
The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) conducts the Clerical cadre exam for 11 participating Public Sector Banks (like PNB, Bank of Baroda, Canara Bank). The Clerk (or Single Window Operator) is the first point of contact for customers in a branch.
This is a desk job with fixed timings, offering great job security and a clear path to become an officer within 3-4 years through internal promotional exams (JAIIB/CAIIB).
Eligibility and the LPT
Qualification: A Bachelor’s degree in any discipline. Computer literacy (Certificate/Diploma/Degree) is mandatory.
Local Language: Since clerks deal directly with the local public, candidates MUST be fluent in the official language of the state they are applying for. The Language Proficiency Test (LPT) is conducted before final selection.
Salary: The starting basic pay is ,19,900. After adding DA, HRA, and CCA, the gross salary comes to around ,35,000 per month.
