With a CTC close to ,65,000–,70,000 per month for a fresh graduate, it offers compensation that rivals many MNC entry-level packages while providing complete government job security.

Exam Pattern
Phase 1 – Preliminary Exam (100 marks, 60 mins): Reasoning Ability (35 Qs, 20 mins), Quantitative Aptitude (35 Qs, 20 mins), English with Comprehension (30 Qs, 20 mins). Each section is separately timed - this is important. Candidates must clear individual section cutoffs as well as the overall cutoff.
Phase 2 – Main Exam (300 marks, 2 hours 30 mins): Reasoning, General Knowledge & Current Affairs, Insurance and Financial Market Awareness, Data Analysis & Interpretation, and English Language. The Insurance and Financial Market Awareness section differentiates serious LIC-specific candidates from those only doing generic banking preparation.
Phase 3 – Interview (60 marks): Conducted at LIC Zonal offices. Tests personality, communication, general awareness, and knowledge of the insurance industry. Final merit = 75% Mains + 25% Interview.
Key Preparation Focus: Insurance & Financial Awareness
This section is the secret weapon - most candidates ignore it and perform poorly. Study: IRDAI regulations (minimum premium, surrender value, free look period), types of life insurance (Term, Endowment, ULIP, Whole Life), LIC's flagship products (Jeevan Anand, Jeevan Labh, New Jeevan Shakti, Tech-Term), Indian insurance market statistics, regulatory bodies (IRDAI, PFRDA, SEBI), and financial literacy concepts. Read LIC's Annual Report and IRDAI's Annual Report for sector-specific data. This preparation - combined with strong Quantitative and Reasoning skills - will set you apart in one of India's most rewarding insurance sector careers.
