Alternatively, a Post Graduate degree, MBA, or PGDM with 55% marks is accepted. NABARD also recruits specialists (like Agriculture, Finance, IT, Forestry, and Civil Engineering), which require specific technical degrees with similar percentage criteria.

Age Limit: The candidate must be between 21 and 30 years of age. Standard government relaxations apply (3 years for OBC, 5 years for SC/ST, and 10 years for PwBD). Candidates holding an M.Phil or Ph.D. degree get relaxed upper age limits.

The Three-Phase Selection Process

The NABARD Grade A exam is unique because it heavily tests your knowledge of agriculture and rural development, even for generalist posts.

Phase 1: Preliminary Examination (200 Marks)
This is an online objective test of 120 minutes. It comprises eight sections: Reasoning, English Language, Computer Knowledge, Quantitative Aptitude, Decision Making, General Awareness, Economic & Social Issues (ESI), and Agriculture & Rural Development (ARD). The first five sections are merely qualifying in nature. The merit section, which decides if you clear the cutoff for Mains, consists entirely of General Awareness, ESI, and ARD (totaling 100 marks). Phase 2: Main Examination (200 Marks)
The Mains exam consists of two papers:
Paper I (General English): This is a descriptive paper (typed on the computer) comprising essay writing, precis writing, and comprehension. It evaluates your analytical and drafting skills.
Paper II (ESI & ARD): This paper is half objective and half descriptive. It tests deep theoretical knowledge of Indian agriculture, rural sociology, economic planning, and government schemes.

Phase 3: Personal Interview (50 Marks)
The interview panel usually consists of senior NABARD executives (Chief General Managers) and external subject matter experts. They evaluate your personality, your understanding of rural India's challenges, and your alignment with NABARD's core mission. The final selection is based on the combined marks of the Mains exam and the Interview.
