Operating massive integrated steel plants in Bhilai, Bokaro, Rourkela, Durgapur, and Burnpur, SAIL is the backbone of Indian infrastructure and defense manufacturing. The position of Management Trainee (Technical) is the premier entry-level executive post for fresh engineering graduates.
Working at a SAIL plant means operating at a massive scale. You will be dealing with blast furnaces that run at 1500°C, managing massive rolling mills, and ensuring the continuous production of thousands of tonnes of steel daily. It is a rugged, highly technical, and deeply rewarding core engineering job.
Eligibility and Salary
Educational Qualification: Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Metallurgy, Electrical, Chemical, Instrumentation, or Mining) with 65% marks (55% for SC/ST/PwBD). A valid GATE score in the respective discipline is strictly required.
Age Limit: 28 years for General candidates.
Salary Structure: During the one-year training period, MTs are paid a basic pay of ,50,000. After successful completion, they are designated as Junior Managers (E-1 grade) with a pay scale of ,60,000 – ,1,80,000. The gross monthly salary, including DA, HRA, and location-based allowances (many SAIL plants are in remote areas, attracting hardship allowances), easily exceeds ,90,000 per month.
