Being a SAIL employee means contributing directly to nation-building on the grandest scale possible.

The Bhilai Steel Plant township, for example, is a model industrial township with excellent schools, hospitals, sports facilities, and shopping centers - truly a world within a world.

Selection Process

Selection is based on a Written Test followed by a Medical Examination. The written test covers trade-specific technical knowledge, general aptitude, and general awareness. There is no interview for OCT/ACT posts. Merit list is prepared plant-wise, and candidates are required to submit plant preferences at the time of application. Document verification is the final step before joining. Candidates must be prepared to be posted at any SAIL plant as per vacancy requirements.

Steel Industry & Career Growth

India's National Steel Policy targets 300 million tonnes of steel capacity by 2030, and SAIL is at the forefront of this massive expansion. New modernization projects at Bhilai and Rourkela plants involve state-of-the-art equipment and automation systems. OCTs and ACTs can climb the ladder through departmental promotion exams to become OCT Grade I, II, III, and eventually Supervisor or Manager-level roles. A career at SAIL is not just a job - it's a complete life in a self-sufficient industrial township. Don't miss this remarkable opportunity!
